Top Tier Trader $10,000 Challenge — Position Size Calculator

Quick Answer

Top Tier Trader's $10k account has no daily loss limit ($0), meaning your only constraint is the 10% max drawdown ($1,000 total). Risking 1% means $100 per trade, and for EURUSD with a 30-pip stop, you'd trade approximately 3.33 standard lots.

Risk Guide
With Top Tier Trader's $10k account, you have zero daily loss tolerance but can lose up to $1,000 total before violating max drawdown. This creates a unique risk scenario - you could theoretically lose the entire $1,000 in a single day without breaching daily limits, but you'd immediately fail the challenge. At 1% risk ($100 per trade), you have exactly 10 losing trades before hitting max drawdown. At 2% risk ($200 per trade), you only get 5 losing trades total. The math is unforgiving: there's no daily reset to give you breathing room. For position sizing, calculate lot size as (Risk Amount ÷ Stop Loss in Pips ÷ 10). With a $100 risk (1%) and 20-pip stop on EURUSD, that's 100 ÷ 20 ÷ 10 = 0.5 standard lots. For Gold with a $10 stop, risk $100: that's 100 ÷ 10 = 10 ounces. On NAS100 with a 50-point stop, risking $100: that's 100 ÷ 50 = $2 per point. Phase 1 requires $1,000 profit (10%) with the same $1,000 max drawdown. Phase 2 needs only $500 more profit (5%) but maintains the $1,000 total loss limit. Once funded, your account grows but the loss limits typically remain fixed at $1,000, effectively tightening your risk percentage. The danger scenario: a gap opening or news event that blows past your stops. With no daily limit protection, a single bad trade could end your challenge immediately. Many traders fail by risking too much early, thinking they can recover tomorrow, forgetting that tomorrow never comes if you hit that $1,000 drawdown today. Conservative position sizing isn't just recommended - it's survival.
