For Traders $100,000 Challenge — Position Size Calculator
Quick Answer
With a $5,000 daily loss limit, you can lose 5 trades at 1% risk ($1,000 each) before breaching. Risking 1% means $1,000 per trade, while 2% means $2,000 per trade. For EURUSD with a 30-pip stop, 1% risk allows approximately 3.33 standard lots ($1,000 ÷ $300).

Risk Guide
Your $100,000 For Traders account has a $5,000 daily loss limit and $10,000 max drawdown - these are your hard stops. At 1% risk per trade, you're risking $1,000 each time, giving you exactly 5 losing trades before hitting the daily limit. At 2% risk ($2,000 per trade), you can only afford 2 losing trades plus a small partial loss before you're out. This is where many traders fail - they think bigger position sizes mean faster profits, but the math works against you. Two bad trades at 2% risk and you're essentially done for the day.
The real danger scenario: You take a 2% risk trade that goes $1,500 against you, close it, then take another 2% position that immediately moves $1,000 against you. You're now at $2,500 loss with only $2,500 buffer left, forcing you into survival mode for the rest of the day.
For position sizing, use this formula: (Account Size × Risk %) ÷ Stop Loss = Position Size. On EURUSD with a 50-pip stop at 1% risk: ($100,000 × 1%) ÷ $500 = 2 standard lots. On XAUUSD with a $20 stop: $1,000 ÷ $20 = 50 ounces. For indices like NAS100 with a 100-point stop: $1,000 ÷ $1,000 = 1 lot.
Phase 1 requires $10,000 profit with 3 minimum trading days. Phase 2 needs $7,000 profit but maintains the same $5,000 daily loss limit and $10,000 max drawdown. Your risk management doesn't change between phases - if anything, become more conservative as you get closer to funding. Many traders increase risk in Phase 2 thinking the lower profit target means it's easier, but the same loss limits apply. The consistency rule doesn't exist here, so you could theoretically make all your profit in one day, but the daily loss limit still governs your maximum position sizes.
